The EXAFS Family Tree: A Personal History of the Development of Extended
X-ray Absorption Fine Structure
This paper, as published for viewing
with a Web browser such as Netscape
or MS Internet Explorer, consists
of several HTML files including this one and numerous graphics and photographs
that are viewed as links. It can be rapidly viewed and printed locally
by downloading the self extracting archive for PC's running MS Windows
95/98 or Windows NT. You may also download the ZIP file for UNIX and MacIntosh
systems. The self-extracting archive will place the contents in a folder
"exafsco.com" within the current folder. You can then use your browser to view
and print the entire document without the overhead of your internet
connection speed.
Step 1
Download the entire package, ZIP
file (also works on a MAC with Stuffit).
Step 2
Extract the ZIP file into a "history" folder or run the self-extracting
archive as appropriate.
Step 3
Using your file browser such as Windows Explorer, locate this file (printing.html)
in the "techpapers" folder that was created within the folder where
you stored the file you downloaded in Step 1 and load it in your browser.
Clicking on it will start your browser and then you will again be viewing
this file.
| Step 4
Load the EXAFS History page and configure
printing by selecting File,
Page
Setup in the browser's menu.
For Netscape you will see the screen to the right.
Make the appropriate adjustments
and click OK to save your selection. Now select File
then print on the browser's main menu and then print the entire document.
Step 5
Examine the printout. You may find that the Equations Table has been truncated
rather than scaled to fit your printer's page. There is a work around.
Click here then print the displayed graphic
as before. If it still doesn't scale to the page correctly you will
need to use a program such as PaintShop
Pro, ACDSee or ThumbsPlus
to display and print any graphic of your choosing. All of the graphics
and photos will be found in your EXAFS "history" folder.
Step 6
Load the Photo Page and print as in the above
steps.
